Hey r/recipes! I'm trying to up my soup game with seaweed and different mushrooms. Unfortunately buying them fresh from the store gets really expensive and I've had some doubts about brands I've seen for buying dried mushrooms (shiitake, wood ear, etc.) online. One brand, Mushroom House, had a TON of reviews where people got sick and/or found bugs living in unopened or just-opened packages. A lot of the other brands seemed kinda sketchy as well.
Any recommendations as far as affordable dried mushrooms? Mixes totally welcome. Wild mixes would be great, farmed are fine by me. Also any recommendations for different types of mushrooms to try in miso/ramen dishes would also be welcome! Thanks guys!
