My mother has been planning my sister birthday. As she is getting older, she delegate task to everyone in the family. I got cooking duty.
The thing is, I need to prepare a meal thats going to be pleasing to both meat lover and vegan. We are going to be 8 people, 2 of which are vegan and 2 guys that consider that a meal without meat is just wrong.
I don't want to prep and cook two completely different meal so Im loooking for something that i can make a meat version and a vegan version with the same base.

Need help with today's food
So we're 5 days away from the monthly paycheck and there isn't all too much food left. But I want to do something with rice. We have a little bit of chicken, some halloumi cheese and some soy sausages. Not enough on their own to get us full but if I combine all 3 with some frozen vegetables we have I can make food for today and for lunch tomorrow. I just want a sauce type thing to have the chicken and all that in it and serve with rice.
Any ideas?

Aligot recipe?
I am wanting to make aligot sometime soon and I have some questions. What is the best cheese to use? From what i’ve read tomme fraiche is a good one but i’m having trouble finding some in my area. Also what potatoes are best? I’ve seen recipes use everything from fingerling to new potatoes. Which do you recommend? Thanks in advance! This will be my first attempt at making French food and I am really looking forward to it!

Spices/Sauces to use with Salmon Steak Burgers? [QUESTION]
I use to cook a lot and one of my favorite recipes was salmon burgers, but I can't remember any spices or sauces I use to use, so I figured I'd ask here for recommendations! How I prepare this, is normally I cut a filet into bun-sized blocks of salmon, bake them for about 5 minutes, then throw them in a pan and fry them. Then I put them on a bun with some lettuce and tomato slices.
What spices would you recommend? I know chipotle mayo is a popular sauce with salmon patties, but I don't feel like it would fit this salmon burger, and I definitely didn't use it before. What should I use to caramelize the salmon? Algave? Salt, Pepper, and brown sugar?
Thanks for the help!
Oh, and if you can think of any improvements or ideas to the cooking process, let me know, I'm always willing to try out new ideas!

[Request] Freezer meals with smaller portions that can be finished/reheated without an oven or slow cooker.
A bit of a picky request, but I'm looking for freeze-ahead meals that (a) feed 1-2 people instead of a large family and (b) can be finished in a microwave, toaster oven, or stove top. You can imagine how google has failed me here, although I did find a few prospects!
My boyfriend loves home-cooked meals, but due to his very busy work schedule and the fact that we don't live together, he doesn't have much time to cook for himself and usually resorts to fast food or microwavable frozen food. I'd love to send him home with a few things that I can prepare at home and then freeze for him to reheat or finish cooking later. I have a full kitchen with many gadgets, so I'm not very limited on the pre-making side of things. He's limited to a stove top, microwave, and toaster oven. Bonus points if I can package these recipes in disposable containers, since it's likely I wouldn't see any of my good tupperware again if he took it home :P Thank you in advance if you have suggestions!

[Question] What else can I add to a salmon cake? + fish questions.
I don't eat fish or seafood, so I'm hoping to get a little help, as I have no idea what tastes good with it.
My toddler loves my homemade spinach salmon cakes. There is low sodium canned salmon, cooked spinach, eggs, and bread crumbs in it.
I need to keep the spinach in it, as he's off veggies. Ugh, toddlers.
Any ideas what I can add to my spinach salmon cakes to help keep them interesting? I tried canned crab Once, but I'm hoping for something fresh and less processed and little to no salt added.
I made a homemade tartar sauce that he loves on them. I used dill pickle relish as he loves dill pickles. So I'd need to know if the new ingredient would pair ok with the tarter sauce or not.
I don't need amounts, as I'm pretty good at figuring that sort of thing out on my own. Unless it's important to only add a tiny amount or something not obvious.
Also, could I use raw salmon to make these cakes? My store sells a whole(no head and no guts) pink salmon for about $10-$20. I was thinking to pressure cook the salmon to soften the bones. I'm hoping this would make the salmon healthier over the canned stuff.
Can I replace the salmon with pan fish? I love to fish on the shore, and I upgraded all my gear so I could enjoy fishing more. Pressure cook pan fish?
I'm open to opinions and suggestions. Any help to make his fav food better and to add more variety

Mango juice in fruit salad?
I’m making a fruit salad later and I really like using mango, but unfortunately we’re out. We do have mango juice, though, and my mom says to use that instead (in small quantities). I usually make a drawing of honey and orange juice anyway.
Would adding the mango juice be good? I’m worried about overpowering the salad mostly.

What goes into premixed "curry powder" blends?
It's silly to me to buy that crap when I have a pretty deep spice cabinet. I mostly asking for when a recipe calls for it specifically .
Plus, ew. There are thousands of other ways to make a blend that I like way better.

Request : Looking for a pickle recipe (not one that is for half-sours or uses a small kirby cucumbers, but one to make the large sized pickle you'd find in a deli)
So I've been on the hunt for a recipe so I can make my own pickles. The pickle i'm trying to recreate is out there - I've purchased them out of a barrel in grocery stores or from behind the counter in sandwich shops. They're giant pickles and they aren't of the sour variety (new, half, full - nope). If anyone has any idea what I'm talking about and could steer me to a recipe, I would appreciate it. Everything I'm coming across in my google searches is for some type of a sour pickle.

Hey there! I'm looking to make this Mexican spinach casserole crockpot friendly. I'm not sure how well it'll translate over but it'd be great if I can get anywhere close. I'm mostly looking to replicate the the veggies and sauce as we'd like to use a rotisserie chicken, but we'll take it whatever we can (with ground meat, chicken breasts, or no meat).
Just going to mention "keto" for taggings sake.

What is a good mix between Tikka Marsala and Vindaloo
If this isn't the right place to ask this, please direct me where but - I am trying to figure out exactly what would be the good middle between Tikka Marsala and Vindaloo. I love the creaminess of the Tikka Marsala, but would like more spice of the Vindaloo. Anything I've made or ordered out has yet to be a good combo without just joining the two sauces themselves.
What am I missing and what dish would actually be the marriage of the two.
Thanks!

Allergens in recipes
Hi, this is not so much a recipe but a question about recipe books.
How do you think it is better (for the reader) to deal with allergens?
1. State the allergens and highlights them, for example "contains wheat gluten" or "contains peanuts"
or
2. Mark "Allergen-free" recipes and highlight that, for example "Gluten-free" or "Nut-free"
Thank you in advance for your thoughts!

Delicious vegan potstickers. Don't be intimidated, they're easy!
Ingredients :
25 vegan wonton wrappers (see note)
2 tablespoons oil, divided
Half an onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
1 tablespoons minced ginger
3/4 cup chopped mushrooms (Asian mix or oyster or shiitake or white button)
1 carrot, grated
1 cup shredded cabbage
1/2 cup chopped green onions
Salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Water for steaming
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
Instructions :
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and white parts of the green onions and fry until softened. Add the garlic and ginger and fry until fragrant – about 2 minutes. Add the mushrooms and fry for a further 5 minutes or until soft and beginning to brown. Add the carrot, cabbage, green parts of the green onion, salt and pepper and fry, stirring, until the cabbage is soft but not limp – about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir thorough the sesame oil. Allow to cool on the counter or in the fridge.
- Once cool, assemble your potstickers. Place a small teaspoon of the filling in the centre of a wonton wrapper. Wet the edges of the wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper over the filling and pinch the edges together to seal. Place them upright on a plate, being careful not to let them touch or else they will stick together.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of oil over medium-high heat in a large pan. Add the potstickers and fry until browned on the bottom – 1 to 2 minutes. You may need to work in two batches if not all your potstickers fit in the pan. Add 1/4 cup of water, cover the pan and reduce heat to medium. Allow to steam until the tops are tender and the water has evaporated – about 2 to 3 minutes. Uncover the pan and flip the potstickers onto their sides to brown on each side (optional). Remove to a serving dish.
- In a bowl combine the soy sauce and rice vinegar to make a dipping sauce and serve alongside the potstickers.

What's your go to easy dessert recipe?
Hey guys,
We're in the mood for something sweet but I have no idea what to cook. Googling "easy dessert recipes" won't help me as all of the dessert include microwaving. I want something with not so many ingredients, and not with chocolate as I don't have any. I have some flour, butter, eggs, some blueberries and Nutella around, what can I do with those? I'd like to hear your favourite desserts and maybe they'll inspire me. No mug cakes, please. So, what do you cook when you want something sweet but don't want to go to the store?

Recipe Fig & Almond Crisps Recipe
Recipe Fig & Almond Crisps Recipe
in case you’ve been to a celebration currently, there’s an awesome danger you’ve come across raincoast crisps®. they're particularly addictive crackers filled with nuts, seeds and dried fruit, created with the aid of Lesley Stowe, a Parisian-educated chef based totally in Vancouver. they arrive in all varieties of flavors which includes apricot and ginger, and fig and olive and have a sweet and savory flavor in order that they pair tremendously well with cheese. A slender little sleeve of them is set $7 so i was pleased to peer a recipe for a copycat recipe from Dinner with Julie blogger and genius cookbook author and meals author, Julie Van Rosendaal. i was lucky enough to satisfy Julie more than one years in the past and in person she's simply as funny and fascinating as she comes across at the weblog. She's also has mad abilties as a recipe developer.
Julie’s recipe is for Rosemary Raisin Pecan Crisps, but I took place to have plenty of figs and almonds so I went with those and brought a healthy dose of cinnamon rather than rosemary. The recipe is absolutely easy, it simply calls for numerous elements. It’s basically like a biscotti recipe, you make a batter, bake a loaf, then slice it and bake the slices once more. It does requires the capability to slice the loaf very thinly. Julie recommends freezing the loaf but I’m now not nearly affected person enough. I make my slices a chunk thicker than she does and reduced the recipe by 1/2, so i get pretty much 3 dozen crackers in step with batch. manifestly in case you want to make more, you could simple double it.
these crisps have been a chunk hit at Thanksgiving this year. they are tremendous for any cheese or charcuterie plate or only for snacking, and a package deal of them would make a nice hostess present. they are additionally noticeably clean to conform. you can quite tons make them with any aggregate of dried fruit and nuts you want, just alter the herb or spice to complement your preference (or omit the spice completely if you decide on). For my subsequent batch i'm considering apricots, pistachios and cardamom or cherry, walnut and nutmeg.

Pour the batter into the organized loaf pan. Bake until golden and springy to touch, about 35 mins. do away with from the pan and funky absolutely on a twine rack (the bread desires to be very cool for you to slice thinly).
warmness the oven to 300 degrees. Slice the loaves thinly and vicinity the slices in a unmarried layer on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake them for about 15 minutes, then turn them over and bake till crisp and brown, about 10 minutes. allow the crisps cool on a rack. in the event that they aren’t crunchy enough, return them to the oven set to 200 ranges for about 10 minutes.
Makes about three dozen crisps.
Enjoy!

[Request] Carrot Cake Recipe
Hey all,
I am trying to make a carrot cake for someone's birthday. I have never made one before. Does anyone have any recipes they have tried and loved? I have found a lot online, but all the reviews on them talk about how they changed this or added that. And they seem to be quite varied (amount of sugar, different spices, some have buttermilk, etc).
Being I am not great at baking and I don't have enough experience to know how to change a recipe, I am looking for one that won't require me to make adjustments. Any suggestions welcome. Thank you!

Does anyone know any good Bulgarian recipes?
I'm going to Bulgaria this summer for an archaeological dig and would love to try cooking some Bulgarian food before my trip. I usually eat vegetarian, but I would love to hear anything you have. I especially like soups :)

TGI Fridays Pie in the Sky.
Ok. Weirdest request (and maybe someone had another suggestion where to put this) but here goes...
My boyfriend has a really rough week and I told him I’m going to make him a home cooked meal this weekend. I asked him what food he never gets to eat but always wants to and his answer was “Pie in The Sky from TGI Fridays, because they don't make it anymore.”
I know he said it jokingly but I think it would be funny to actually make a dupe recipe for it. That being said, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IT IS OR WHERE TO START!!
Does anyone have any clue how to make this? Google was no help. With some further questioning he described it as “Slice of three-layered cookie pie stuck in a vanilla ice cream, fudge, and caramel sundae with whipped cream”.

Cinnamon Roll Cake
This is a really nice, rich "coffee cake" type recipe that I've been making for years. Not sure where I found it.
Ingredients
Cake:
-
3 c. all-purpose flour
-
1/4 tsp. salt
-
1 c. white sugar
-
4 tsp. baking powder
-
1 1/2 c. milk
-
2 eggs
-
2 tsp. vanilla extract
-
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
-
1/2 c. butter, melted
Topping:
-
1 c. butter, softened
-
1 c. brown sugar
-
2 Tbsp. flour
-
1 Tbsp. cinnamon
Glaze:
-
2 c. powdered sugar
-
5 Tbsp. milk
-
1 tsp. vanilla
** Directions**
-
Mix all cake ingredients together except for the butter.
-
Slowly stir in the melted butter and pour into a greased 9x13 pan.
-
For the topping, mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Drop evenly over the batter and swirl with a knife.
-
Bake at 350 for 28-32 minutes.
-
While warm, drizzle the glaze over the cake.
Notes
-
I have made this with oil once when I was short on butter. It works, but it is definitely not as flavorful as with the butter and I don't really recommend it.
-
I've found that the cake can really dry out after a few days, so keep it covered if you won't be serving immediately. If I plan to bring this cake to an event, I don't make it farther ahead than the night before.
-
The glaze measurements are just a guideline, I just keep adding milk until it reaches the desired consistency.

[REQUEST] Simple rice dishes without onion and garlic
I'm looking for some suggestions on simple rice dishes that do not contain onion or garlic.
Ill typically start with either jasmine or basmati rice cooked in a rice cooker, and then mix with a few ingredients.
Some examples: Butter and salt. Rosemary, thyme, and oregano. Soy sauce (gluten free) and seasame oil.
Some times I'll mix them on the plate. Other times I'll throw them into a frying pan with some veggies and meat for a quick mix.
I'm looking for some simple ideas that I can try, that are along the same idea.
Thanks!

Which hybrid dishes are better than their unmerged counterparts ?
Hi foodies of reddit! Today, I ate "brookies". I like cookies, brownies not so much, but brookies... Those do are amazing. Maybe it's the amount of sugar and butter... But still! Do you have any other dishes like that? Better than the two combined dish?

"The Best Thing To Happen To Sausage"
Link to the blog for full details!
It isn’t really a casserole as much, more of a sausage in a gravy-esque sauce so delicious you’ll wish your stomach has no limit. I am bigging myself up here but in all seriousness it is one of my fave comfort meals and it has got quite a good compliments, including a raving review from my younger brother, call it bias, I call it a man with impeccable taste! As per, this recipe is super simple and dead cheap, so get cooking!
Ingredients
-
Sausages (I cook 2 per person but that is just personal preference, also the sausages we buy are the big bag of frozen ones from Iceland!)
-
1 Large Onion
-
2 Sticks of Celery
-
1 Stockpot
-
1 Cup of Plain Flour
-
Worcestershire Sauce
-
Tomato PurƩe
-
Soy Sauce
-
1/2 Schwartz Flavour Packet – Sausage Casserole (optional)
-
3 Carrots
-
Pepper, Paprika
Method
1) Begin as we usually do by sautƩing your chopped onion (in a sloosh of vegetable oil of course)
2) Add your chopped celery and cook them slowly along with your onions.
3) Add a splash of water as a splash of soy sauce, then sprinkle the flour in slowly until you end up with a horrendous looking kind of thick paste.
4) Make up your stockpot with a litre of water, I use a vegetable stockpot.
5) Chop the carrots up and get them simmering, meanwhile add the stock little by little until the mixture is about the consistency of a slightly runny porridge (I really don’t know how better to describe it!)
6) Add more of the stock, a squeeze of tomato purƩe and a about 2 tsps of Worcestershire sauce. This is where you can add 1/2 the packet of schwartz, the pepper and paprika.
7) Add your carrots to the thick sauce and give it all a good mix.
8) Cook the sausages under the grill, once done, chop them up and add them too the mixture.
9) Now you could serve this with more mixed veg, or what I prefer is some good ole mashed potato. Enjoy!

[REQUEST] Recipes for a large group
Every friday, the company where I work has a chef or an employee cook a meal or has food delivered for lunch. We don’t have a real kitchen but we make it work using the BBQ during the nicer months. We also use slow cookers and induction plates.
We are running out of ideas and I was wondering if you had any simple recipes for a group of 50-60 persons. Bonus if the recipes can be modify to accomodate vegetarian and/or religious beliefs.

[REQUEST] Any recipies that could use some bad ice cream?
Hi, I just bought a carton of mango flavored ice cream from a relatively new company. It tastes really bad and leaves a bad taste in my mouth for a long time. Just wanted to check if something could be done with it before I throw it out since I kinda spent a lot on it.

Recommendations for a cookbook program?
Do any of you use cookbook programs to organize your recipes? I would like to finally organize my recipes so they are all in the same format. My only gripe with the research that I've done is all the programs out there look clunky and outdated.

Request: I hate apple pie, but I am craving big beautiful apple pie.
So what I hate about apple pie is the lack of flavor, overcooked apples don't impart much, masked by cheap cinnamon. Soft texture, cheap apples, too sweet, pie usually falls apart. It's crap. I can't stand it.
I am watching The Resident and there's a dude on here eating a slice of BEAUTIFUL apple pie. The apples are stacked way too high. The apples were white and distinct inside, not a brown amorphous sugar-saturated blob. I want this pie. I want this tart, flavorful delicious pie. A la mode.
I currently live in the Southern USA and I have never seen a good apple pie here. Also realizing people here generally don't seem have access to good big beautiful flavourful apples, so that could contribute to the sad pie scene. I am going to take a gamble and guess I don't hate apple pie, I just hate the standard execution, the general interpretation of what apple pie is. I've just never had an apple pie how it should be done.
Anyone have a recipe to help me out? I am going to make one myself. Usually a ruhbarb strawberry crumble type of person, but I need to get this apple pie bug out of my head. Desperate here.

What are your favorite quick and healthy recipes?
Hi there, my job takes up a ton of time 5:30am-5:30pm (plz halp) between getting ready, commute, and working. I love cooking things that take a lot of time and effort but then I have limited free time, especially since I am waking up so early so I go to bed early as well. I am wondering what your favorite quick yet healthy recipes are.

[Request] A (hopefully lowish-fat) yogurt covered pretzel recipes, where the batter doesn't end up a runny mess?
I've been buying yogurt covered pretzels from Lucky's Market for the past few months and they are soooo delicious! Problem is, I can only eat like 10 a day because they have 9 grams of fat per serving. I'm on a clean bulking diet and keep my fat low (49g/day) to maximize carbs and protein intake.
With that being said, does anyone have a recipe/suggestion that I could use to make my own low-fat yogurt covered pretzels, that doesn't result in a runny mess with the yogurt/powered sugar mixture?

How to Cook Air Fryer Broccoli With Cheese Sauce?
Believe it or not, your air fryer has more than one superpower. In addition to delivering crispiness without loads of fat, it also delivers crunchy roasted broccoli that doesn’t turn that oh-so-unappealing army green color. And what’s broccoli without cheese sauce? This creamy delight is easy to make ahead—just reheat it right before serving, then drizzle away.

Does anyone know this chili recipe?
This is bothering me so bad. I found this recipe on Pinterest maybe 2 or 3 years ago. The website itself was kind of obscure, like a pink or green background with blue font. I think I found it while looking for a Wendy’s chili copycat, but I don’t think they titled it that way.
From what I remember, it had a ton of canned things in it. I remember in the blog post the lady even commented something like “whew that was a lot of cans!”
I remember it having: -a can of rotel -light kidney beans (not drained) -dark kidney beans (not drained) -ranch style beans -Bush’s Texas style beans (? I think she said this one, but I remember the post saying that you could use a similar type of Bush’s beans) -green bell pepper -McCormick chili seasoning -ground beef
I realize that this is pretty much the entire recipe lmao, I just want to find it because I’m afraid I’m forgetting something and I don’t want to make it and have it taste like something is missing. I’ve been trying to get back into cooking again and everything I’ve been making has been coming out pretty...not good. So I just want to make sure I 100% know this before I make it.
Thank you!

[Request] Picked up some Mako Shark from Chuck's Produce during a sale yesterday and need some good recipes
My wife managed to drag me to Chuck's Produce because they were having a great sale on avocados this weekend (something something /r/hailcorporate) and while wandering around the store I was happy to find that they had wild caught Mako Shark and swordfish. I picked up a little bit of both and while I know an easy and good way to prepare swordfish (thank you deermeatfordinner on youtube), I've never had shark. Does anybody have some secret recipe or technique for a nicely prepared shark meal?

Cheap recipes to bring to pot luck
I don’t know if pot luck is a regional term but it’s pretty much just a public gathering that you have to being a dish to. I’m looking for a recipe that people will like, but will be cheap at the same time. A main course dish is preferred but good dessert recipes will be considered as well. Thanks!
