Hi all! I'm starting to track new recipes published by popular free websites. Thought y'alls might appreciate some of the best ones I found this week (grouped by "theme"):
THANKSGIVING
Bon Appétit had a slew of delicious-looking Thanksgiving posts, like:
- Spiced and Glazed Roast Turkey w/ Cranberry Sauce;
- Cornbread Stuffing (and its companion Fried Rice);
- Good Gravy—no turkey carcass or roux required!; and
- Pecan Pumpkin Pie for dessert
They also published a Brad & Andy video on turkey & cranberry sauce (the first in this year's Thanksgiving series); a little long for my tastes (1h vs their usual 10m - 30m!) but they're still a lot of fun.
HALLOWEEN
Several cute Halloween snacks popped up, such as:
- Boo-meringues;
- Chocolate Covered Monster Pretzels;
- Dracula’s Dentures; and of course
- Cookies, both chocolate chip and chocolate sprinkle.
AUTUMN
Other seasonal recipes this week included:
- Vegan squash dishes like Spaghetti Squash Spaghetti and Cozy Curried Butternut Squash Soup;
- Savory pumpkin recipes like pumpkin butter for spreadin' (also vegan!) and pumpkin chili (vegetarian);
- Sweeter pumpkin stuffs, from Buttermilk Pumpkin Pancakes, Churro Style Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins or Iced Pumpkin Banana Muffins, and Pumpkin Snickerdoodles
- Appley options for the morning (Cinnamon Apple Yogurt Bowls), evening (Caramel Apple Old Fashioned), or anytime (Apple Pie Spice)
- "Secret Ingredient Tomato Soup", fully costed from the good folks at Budget Bytes ($0.59 per serving!!)
Thinking that yogurt will soon replace my usual berries-and-bananas breakfast go-to!
MAINS
- This Creamy Mussel Pot looks fantastic—I'm trying to cook more pan-Asian foods at home, and have a soft spot for unfamiliar seafood preparations :)
- I'll be serving this Feta-Brined Roast Chicken soon for "Sunday Roast", wanna join?
- Green Shakshuka Pizza looks divine, and should satisfy you vegetarians who eat eggs;
- Easy Skillet Lasagna and Classic Baked Ziti seem like excellent vegetarian pasta options; and
- This vegan Mushrooms & Dumplings Soup will 100% warm you up, or for more vegan comfort foods consider the Thai Red Curry Mac and Cheese
SIDES
- No Yeast Cheesy Herb Beignets will be making an appearance soon in my kitchen (perhaps several);
- Cheesy Cabbage Gratin might satisfy my partner's aligot cravings but with better nutritional value;
- Coconut Creamed Greens seems a creative approach to add flavor and texture in one fell swoop; and
- A Peach Burrata Salad would mark the transition from summer into fall nicely, don't you think?
What's best—all of these are vegetarian, and most are either vegan or easily modifiable :)
SNACKS / DESSERTS
- IF YOU DO NOTHING ELSE WITH THIS POST at least look at the color of this Ube & Coconut Cream Pie. Yowza!
- Care for an Indian snickerdoodle? Try the Roht;
- Filed this Doughnut Bread Pudding away for next time I have leftover donuts;
- Blueberry-Lemon Yogurt Cake looks like an easy-enough stunner, or try these even simpler (+ freezable!) Sour Cream Twists
- Stella/Bravetart ups the game as usual with Overnight Chocolate-Hazelnut Breakfast Buns, feat. homemade "Nutella"
MISC
- Hong Kong-style milk tea gelato was impeccably researched and beautifully presented. Go ogle!
- If you're feeling drinky but want to skip the boozy apple old fashioned above, check out this gorgeous Pink Italian Cream Soda or seasonal Pumpkin Spice Latte
- Not a recipe, but David Lebovitz's blog turned 20 this week so if you've ever enjoyed one of his recipes head on over and say thanks
