My Dad is recovering from triple-bypass surgery. I'd like to help out by cooking some meals for my parents that fit into the low-sodium, low-cholesterol diet he is on. I'm by no means a great cook, but I can follow directions and my food mostly turns out edible.
Dad is a big fan of Southern foods. He grew up in South Carolina, makes his own Carolina BBQ pork, and the house is always stocked with grits. I'd like to emulate some of those recipes in a heart healthy way. However, I'm worried that I'll turn him off of the foods if I do a poor job.
Any advice or recipes?
