Someone asked about margarita recipes earlier and it reminded me of a drink I made up a few years ago. It's loosely based on an old cocktail called a Millionaire, so that's why I picked this name, since I'm a bit of a commie.
I prefer gin, but you can also use vodka (to be more communist), or even Canadian whisky as the base.
2 oz gin (or &c.)
3/4 oz Cointreau
splash of grenadine
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Shake and serve straight up or on the rocks.
It's delightfully pink, quite strong, but basically tastes like candy, so be careful.
Another one I've done I called a Ghost Sheriff, after my old tumblr username, which is:
2 oz gin (or vodka)
3/4 oz Cointreau
1/2 oz Campari
On the rocks, garnished with a lime wedge.
I mean, that'll combat both malaria and scurvy. And it tastes good.
