My favorite drink used to be a pepperita they served at local distillery. For whatever reason, they bailed on that drink on tap. However, when they took it off the tap, they logged the recipe on their website. I was looking for something to do with a handful of limes I had left over as a result of Cinco de Mayo, and I harkened back to this recipe.
A few modifications to the original seen below: I thought 3-4 jalepenos for a single drink would be overkill. It's probably not. I did a whole jalepeno for 2 drinks, and I got the flavor but not the heat. It needs the heat to counteract the sweetness, so don't hold back.
Treaty Oak Pepperita:
-
1.5 oz Light Rum
-
1 oz Fresh lime Juice
-
1 oz Agave nectar
-
3–4 Fresh jalapenos, sliced
-
Splash of sparkling water or club soda
Combine all ingredients into shaker. Shake well for 15 seconds. Pour over ice and top with club soda. Enjoy the heat!
