Cake storage

Tomorrow is New Years and I'm bringing a cake in the evening for the family. I'm preparing the cakes today (30th) and the ganache tomorrow morning then assembling it all together, now here's the, sorta dumb question: Should I store the cakes today in the refrigerator or room tempature? Same question for the whole cake once it's assembled. Thanks
