Hi all. I'm an aged care worker down in Australia and I have an client who has memories of an apple type cake that she loved but she can't remember many of the details or even the name. I'd love to figure out what it is so I could either give her the recipe or help her make it.
This is what she remembers (but details are extremely fuzzy). You take apples, peel and core them then slice thinly and mix with sugar. They get laid on the bottom of a cake tin. Then flour (maybe 2 types?) butter and eggs (again something may be wrong/missing) are mixed and poured over the top. It's baked and when its cooked and turned out it presents as sliced syrupy apples on top of a sponge like cake.
I know it's not much to go on and google hasn't given me much help, so if anyone has any ideas or directions to look in I would be grateful. Have a great day!
