Question about changing ingredients in pancake recipe

So I recently found a new pancake recipe. It makes pancakes that are very light and fluffy. The only problem is it calls for 3 TBSP of sugar and to me they're way too sweet. My old recipe calls for 2 tsp. Would it hurt to change the amount of sugar in the new recipe? The maple syrup is sweet enough, in my opinion! Thanks in advance!
