Add grape jelly.
No this isn’t a “shitpost”. lol I’m actually so excited.
I have basically nothing to eat in my house right now, but I did have some canned chicken and mayo, so yknow, chicken salad i guess? But I had no celery, or grapes, or even relish to make it anything more than a bowl of chicken mush. So what’s a guy to do? Well, at first, contemplate eating my soggy chicken mush while sobbing and watching Friends. But as I was putting my mayo away, I noticed the grape jelly. “Noooo,” i thought. “I couldn’t!” I could. I started out with just a little bit, mixed it in, couldn’t really taste it, then i accidentally added like another 2 tbsp worth. It was delicious as all hell. Reminded me of like, cranberry sauce on Thanksgiving. I’m never having chicken salad without it again. I’m just some random guy, I probably don’t have a very good recipe for chicken salad (especially with what I was working with today), so I definitely recommend using your own. But since this is the Recipe sub, mine went as follows:
12 oz canned chicken chunks in water
2 1/2 tbsp mayo
1 tsp honey mustard
1/2 tsp lemon juice
pinch of salt
2 1/2 tbsp grape jelly
Directions: Drain water from chicken, dump into bowl. Break up the chunks with a fork. Mix in mayo. Add everything else besides jelly, mix well. Add jelly, mix it in, but careful not to over mix it, so that it still seems like something mixed in, rather than appearing like you started out with just purple mayo and chicken.
It transformed my, (As Gordon Ramsey might call it) “F**ing sad dog’s dinner” into an “I might actually feed this to my dog”. Don’t feed it to a dog though. Grapes will kill them.
