Hello all. I found these two recipes (and a couple of others I am trying to salvage) in a newspaper called The Daily Home News published here in New Jersey. They were submitted by a Mrs. Alexander George on 7 May 1937. I thought you folks, especially any recipe collectors here, might be interested in them.
Peanut Cookies
Ingredients
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup chopped roasted peanuts
- 1 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 egg whites, beaten
Directions
- Beat yolk and sugar together
- Add rest of ingredients and mix lightly
- Pour into a shallow pan lined with wax paper
- Bake 25 minutes in a moderate oven.
- Cut in bars while warm and roll in granulated sugar.
Note: I have not made these yet, but I believe 'moderate oven' should be right around 350-375F. Your oven may vary.
Frozen Vanilla Custard

- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt

- 2 teaspoons vanilla
Directions
- Beat the yolks.

- Cool.
- Add rest of ingredients and freeze until stiff.
There we are. I hope you folks find them interesting, and enjoy trying them.
