How do you thicken a syrup?

Heya everyone,

I’m making a Black Forest gateau and I’ve used a blender to make a cherry syrup out of morello cherries and cherry jam. The only problem I have with it is that it’s a bit too runny would you guys know any way of thickening it a little??
