What to do when you're always asking yourself 'What should we eat today?'

So my girlfriend and I keep asking each other 'what are we going to eat?' every day - both for lunch and dinner. The thing is, we rarely have an idea, so we end up either eating whatever we have in the fridge (usually not very healthy). We talked about how to systematically approach this, but ended up with some ideas that don't seem practical.

Like, let's find 20 recipes we like and buy the ingredients one day so then we can cook whatever we want from that list.

Or, let's cook 5 different meals one day and have the portions frozen so we can just reheat and eat.

Both are kiiiinda good, but we're not really happy with the solution lol.

How do you guys go about this? Do you have a list of easy/medium/hard to cook food that you like that you just reference when you're out of ideas or what?

This may sound silly, but it really is a problem for us.
