I cook a lot and I've been doing it for a long time. I can usually tell when a recipe isn't going to come out as expected as I'm reading it and am not afraid to alter one on the fly. So when my girlfriend, who isn't a chef, comes to me with recipe ideas it's usually a fun activity for us to share.
Lately she's come to me with half a dozen recipes and culinary "techniques" that have me scratching my head. The latest one was to submerge strawberries is salt water for an extended period in order to "get the bugs out"... which honestly won't do much more than make them taste salty.
Has anyone else noticed a trend?
