How to make crispy, crunchy chocolate layer in a cake?

Lately I've eaten a cake. One of its layer had (as in the title) a chocolate taste but it was crunchy and crispy. I think there were some little chocolate balls. Do anyone have any receipe how to make something like this? I was searching the google but I found nothing similiar....
