Greek Lasagna - sauce?

I love to make up my own recipes. I was in the car with my husband and started formulating a lasagna made from gyro meat, the cheese used in saganaki (name eludes me), standard lasagna noodles, feta cheese and...

Well, I need some kind of sauce as a padding and binder, but tzitki (spelled wrong, I know) would turn into something atrocious if baked. I was thinking of having it on the side as a drizzle when served? I remember having a Greek pasta dish a couple of times that had a sweet tomato meat sauce on it, but not sure what it was called to look it up. Plus this is a new concept that I'm coming up with, and while the noodles will be standard to traditional Italian recipes, I was hoping to find a sauce that would be different enough (not another marinara type) but would also make the other flavors pop. Like brown butter, but with more "to it"?

I'm sure something similar to this idea has been done before, but I would like very much to not use a recipe that already exists.

Thanks for your help!
