Keema is a classic Indian dish that is really simple to make. There is not a lot of complicated steps to create a really full flavoured beef dish. The beef mince is cooked and simmered in a range of both aromatic and flavoursome spices including, Chilli, Garam Masala, Cumin, Coriander and Turmeric. Although it’s spiced it won’t burn your mouth. This turns a simple beef mince into a wonderful aromatic and tasty meal. Serve with Rice or naan to create a quick, simple & easy to cook meal.
Ingredients:
• 500 g Beef Mince
• 1 Brown Onion diced
• 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil
• 1 tbsp Ground Ginger use a heaped tbsp.
• 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
• 1 tsp Ground Chilli
• 1/2 tsp Chilli Flakes optional for garnishing
• 1 tsp Garam Masala
• 1 tsp Cumin
• 1/2 tsp Salt
• 1 tsp Ground Coriander
• 1/2 tsp Ground Turmeric
• 1 cup water
• Jasmine Rice to serve
Instructions:
1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium to high heat.
2. Add onion and cook until softened. About 5 minutes.
3. Add garlic & ginger and cook for a further 1 minute
4. Add beef mince and cook until browned. About 6-7 minutes
5. Reduce heat to low and add in ground chilli, garam masala, cumin, salt, ground coriander & ground turmeric and cook a further minute.
6. Add 1 cup of water, cover the pan and continue cooking on low heat until water evaporates.
7. Garnish with chilli flakes (optional) and serve with naan or rice.
